Caps Win Big At Home Opener

The Summerside D. Alex MacDonald Ford Western Capitals kicked things off at home with a big 6-0 win over the defending champion Edmundston Blizzard. League MVP and Captain TJ Shea had a night to remember scoring two goals and adding three assists for a five point night and first star honours. “The Dominator” Dominik Tmej was stellar in goal posting a 33 save shutout to pick up his second win on the season. Also finding the back of the net was Brodie MacArthur with a goal and two assists, as did Noah Massie with his goal being his first as a Western Capitals. Kallum Muirhead scored his fourth of the season to open the game, and Josh MacDonald scored a beautiful breakaway goal to get his first of the season. A total of 1,624 fans came out to support the Western Capitals, and Red Rock Wrestling and local celebrity Kowboy Mike Hughes did a great job getting the crowd amped up prior to puck drop.

The next Capitals action is this Saturday, October 6th at 7pm at Credit Union Place as the top place team the Yarmouth Mariners are in town, the Mariners took the first matchup of the season a 5-1 win in Yarmouth back in September.
