Former Caps player Luke Strickland has committed to Long Island University, and NCAA Division I school, for next season.
The Keswick, Ontario native was acquired by Summerside during the 2020-21 season on January 27th in a trade with the Stouffville Spirit of the OJHL. In eighteen games with the Western Capitals as an 18-year-old, Strickland had eleven goals and five assists. That goal total placed him third on the team in the regular season. Strickland was tied with teammate Justin Ertel with five goals during the Canadian Tire Cup Playoff Round-Robin, and his six total points placed him fifth among all players.
The Caps organization congratulates Strickland on his post-secondary commitment.
