Caps Comeback to Defeat Tigres


Thursday, September 25th 2008CAMPBELLTON, N.B. -- The Summerside Western Capitals overcame another slow start Wednesday night.
The Capitals fell behind the Restigouche Tigers 3-1 after one period before scoring three unanswered second-period goals. The Caps then preserved the lead through a scoreless third period to register a 4-3 victory.
The Maritime Junior 'A' Hockey League game was played before 421 fans at the Campbellton Memorial Civic Centre.
Sophomore Trevor Carmichael keyed the Capitals' comeback with a pair of short-handed goals in the second period, including the winner at 14:25. Carmichael's first goal made it 3-2 at 5:28.
Rookie Steven Brazil and Bradley Smith, the game's first star, also scored for the Capitals, who have entered the first intermission of all five regular-season games trailing on the scoreboard.
Second-star Spencer Corcoran (3) and Harrison McIver (2) had multiple assists for the Caps (3-2). Former Capital and third-star Chad Loewen (1-1), Dave Plante and Robbie McCarthy replied for the winless Tigers (0-4). 
Overall, the Caps outshot the Tigers 37-36. Winning goaltender was Alex Dupuis and Paul Dorsey took the loss.
The Capitals visit Woodstock on Friday and host the Halifax Lions at Credit Union Place on Sunday. JASON SIMMONDS, the Journal Pioneer
