Caps Dump TigersSaturday, February 20th 2010Western Capitals pound Campbellton Transcontinental Media CAMPBELLTON, N.B. — The Summerside Western Capitals started off a three-game weekend on a winning note Friday night. The Capitals jumped out to period leads of 3-1 and 6-2 en route to an 8-3 victory over the Campbellton Tigers in a Maritime Junior ‘A’ Hockey League contest. The Capitals visit the Miramichi Timberwolves tonight, and then host Bridgewater on Sunday at 6 p.m. Fans are asked to note the start time has been changed. At the Campbellton Memorial Civic Centre, Trevor Carmichael had two goals and an assist to lead the Capitals (25-18-1-1). Matt Myers (2), Nathan DesRoches (1-1), Harrison McIver (1-1), Will Johnston and Chad Earle rounded out the scoring. Cole MacMillan (2), Darcy Ashley, Jason Gallant, Lance Pridham, Mitchell Hare, Neil Sherren, Parker Deighan, Spencer MacDonald and Steven Brazil added assists as 15 players contributed points for the Caps. Zeth Zielinski (2) and Jason Smallman (1-1) of O’Leary countered for the Tigers (6-35-3-2). Paul Dorsey earned the goaltending win as the Caps outshot the Tigers 41-28. |
