Sunday, August 30th 2009Coach Dwyer Pleased With Opening Weekend By Alex Whalen www.gocapsgo.ca   Summerside, PE- With the first two days of training camp in the books, Head Coach Gordie Dwyer has been pleasantly surprised with the results to date. Forty-three players reported to the opening day of Western Capitals training camp, which consisted of registration, a team meeting, off-ice work outs and an on-ice session. “We have been pleasantly surprised with the turnout of players so far” commented Dwyer Sunday afternoon. “It has been a competitive, spirited training camp, and we look forward to our exhibition schedule this upcoming week”, he adds. The team will open its expiation schedule with its lone home game this coming Wednesday, September 2nd, against the Pictou County Weeks Crushers before travelling to Woodstock to take on the Slammers Friday at 7:30p. Saturday, September 5th the team will travel to Amherst to take on the Ramblers before tackling the Miramichi Timberwolves in Chatham on Monday, September 7th to conclude its pre-season schedule. Competition has been high with several roster spots open, and the “spirited” training camp will continue through to the teams home opener on September 13th.
