The Summerside Western Capitals are well aware of what awaits them in the Maritime Junior 'A' Hockey League's Kent Cup final.
"Truro plays a great team game, they have solid goaltending, six D, four lines deep and all four lines can play and they play the same game -- sound defensively but they are sneaky fast and are great on transition," explained Caps head coach Kenny MacDougall. "They have a lot of skilled hockey players that can put the puck in the net."
The Caps host the Bearcats in Game 1 of the best-of-seven series at Credit Union Place on Sunday at 7 p.m.
"It's going to come down to the team that executes the best, stays the most disciplined and the team that wants it more and has the opportunity to impose their will on the opposition," said MacDougall.
The Capitals had a league-high 2,331 penalty minutes in 54 regular-season games while Truro had 1,001.
"Their power play is deadly," said MacDougall. "If you give them time and space, they're going to make you pay.
"Discipline is going to be crucial and Truro is the least penalized team in the league, so we're going to have our work cut out for us. But I really like the way we've turned things around in that area and I don't think it will be a factor."
The Capitals will be without forward Mike MacIsaac, who has 19 points in eight playoff games, for Game 1. MacIsaac, who's been playing on a line with captain Brett Gallant and Bradley Smith, will sit out a one-game suspension as result of a checking-from-behind major penalty in Game 4 against Miramichi.
"We have probably four or five guys who can jump up into that spot," said MacDougall. "Mikey is a big hole to fill and we need someone to go on that line and play solid two-way hockey for us."
After having a seven-day break from game action, the Caps are anxious to get going again.
"We're excited about it," said Caps forward Nathan Snowie. "We kind of expected all along that it was going to be Truro."
them a good run (in the Maurice Bent Division final)."
Alex Dupuis will get the call in goal for the Caps.
