Caps back to work preparing for Kent Cup finalMonday, March 30th 2009 Caps back to work preparing for Kent Cup final JASON SIMMONDS The Journal Pioneer SUMMERSIDE -- The Summerside Western Capitals will be back to work at Credit Union Place this afternoon in preparation for the Maritime Junior 'A' Hockey League's championship series. The Capitals, who are 8-0 in the playoffs after sweeping Dieppe and Miramichi en route to winning the Roger Meek Division, will face either the Truro Bearcats or Amherst Ramblers. The Bearcats take a 3-2 lead into tonight's Game 6 of the best-of-seven Maurice Bent Division final in Amherst. "We're playing our best hockey of the year and this is a good time to do it," said Capitals head coach and director of hockey operations Kenny MacDougall. "This is the time of the year you want to be playing your best hockey. "We're peaking at the right time, we're playing with the consistency we've wanted to play with all year. It's not a matter of waving a magic wand. It takes a lot of hard work and a lot of tough lessons." This will be the second time in three years the Capitals have played for the Kent Cup. They lost in six games to Truro in 2007. "After just beating Miramichi (in the division final), the first thing that came to your mind was we still have some work to do and we still have another series," said Capitals forward Bradley Smith, who scored a hat trick and the winning goal in the series-clinching 5-4 win Saturday night. "Everyone's bought into a system and all 20 guys are on the same page." The Capitals, by virtue of their first-place finish overall in the 11-team league, will enjoy home-ice advantage in the final. That best-of-seven series is expected to start at Credit Union Place in Summerside on Sunday night. jpsports@journalpioneer.com 31/03/09
